Strong Start and Steady Finish Eileen Patterson, running for team "Chugging Along," showed a commendable performance at the 2025 Portland Marathon half marathon. She started impressively, clocking a 10:08 min/mile pace in the first mile and securing the top position in the F35-39 division. However, her pace slowed to an average of 11:22 min/mile by the end, finishing with a total time of 2:28:55 over the 13.1-mile course. Throughout the race, Eileen displayed consistent effort, particularly in miles 5 and 13, where she clocked split times of 10:45 and 10:24, respectively. Although her positioning dropped in the overall and gender categories, landing her 3,493rd overall and 1,593rd in her gender, she maintained composure in a field of 5,623 participants. Focusing on pacing strategy for future races could help maintain initial momentum throughout longer distances. Overall, Eileen’s strong start and perseverance served her well.
