Consistent Start with Opportunities in the Second Half Gary started strong in the 2025 Portland Marathon, maintaining an impressive pace for the initial miles. His performance peaked between miles 4 and 5 with split times of 8:22 minutes per mile, significantly boosting his division rank to 5th position temporarily. The first half of the race saw consistent mile splits under 9 minutes, showcasing Gary's preparedness and focus. However, from mile 16 onwards, a gradual increase in split times was observed, finishing with an overall pace of 9:44 minutes per mile. The splits ranged towards 11:55 minutes per mile by mile 23. Despite finishing 18th in his division, Gary completed the marathon with a total time of 4:15:09. Focusing on pacing strategies during the latter half of the marathon could mitigate the slow down in the future. Docking the final half uniformly will lead to a significant improvement. Nonetheless, it's a strong finish overall with room to grow.
