Consistent Start, Challenging Finish Martin Unzueta maintained a strong and consistent pace in the early and middle stages of the 2025 Portland Marathon. The first half of the race saw impressive splits, with Martin holding a steady pace between 8:33 and 8:15 min/mile for the first six miles. He achieved his best placement in the Men's 19-24 division at Mile 8, ranking 35th with an overall placement of 312. His pacing was remarkable as he navigated the first half, never dropping past an 8:42 min/mile through Mile 14. In the latter half of the marathon, fatigue appears to have impacted performance. From Mile 19, his splits began to lengthen considerably with times exceeding 11 minutes per mile, culminating in the slowest pace of 13:40 min/mile at Mile 20. Despite the slowdown, Martin completed the marathon with an overall time of 4:15:42. Improving endurance over a full marathon distance may enhance his future results.
